Winemaker’s notes:
Giraud 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Tradition is made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre this cuvée is fleshy, sweet and generous, with hints of the garrigue and roasted herbs which underline its provenance, this wine is well named, its ageing shared between tank and foudre and its potential vast.

Critical Acclaim:
“Still in tank, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition has plenty of floral, herb and underbrush notes to go with a core of sweet berry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, rich and textured, with ultra-fine tannin, it should be accessible in its youth yet have a solid 12-15 years drink window. Drink 2015-2027.” 92-94 Points – The Wine Advocate

“Bright ruby-red. Highly perfumed scents of candied red fruit, potpourri and incense. Smooth and open-knit, offering intense black raspberry and cola flavors that become sweeter with air. Closes very long and spicy, with excellent clarity and fine-grained, harmonious tannins.” 91-93 pts – Stephen Tanzer’s IWC

“The 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape blends 60 percent Grenache with 35 percent Syrah and the rest Mourvèdre (the Girauds call this the ‘tradition’ cuvée). It shows what is becoming the distinctively racy, tightly coiled yet pure and fresh profile of the vintage, with mouthwatering licorice snap and pain d’épices notes that have serious length.” Wine Spectator
